During normal game play if you don't have a file (map, mod, etc..,) that is required, it's downloaded to your cache dir.
The CACHE.INI file in that directory maintains the list of the downloaded files and the filename assigned to it by UT99 (*.uxx). The default setting for deleting all files in the cache dir is 30 days...if you don't physically move/rename the files to their appropriate directories. This means that all of those files you waited to download are gone....
By running utcache cleaner you don?t have to worry about UT99 removing those files you waited to download. If you run this utility every couple of weeks you soon will not have to download anything from the server you play on. Once you stop having to download maps and mods you can stop running it. I still open mine once a month just to make sure I don?t have something that needs to be moved over. Here is a quick and simple tutorial on how to use utcache cleaner.
1. Download and install utcache cleaner (can be found in the utilities section of the downloads area).
2. Open utcache cleaner (usually start->programs->UTcachecleaner3-> UTcachecleaner3).
3. Click the big Run button(you should have a mix of files listed that are in your cache).
4. Click Exit.
5. That?s it!
